Paragon
Paragon is Diablo 4's progression after the level cap: points spent on boards of stat nodes with Glyph sockets. Since Vessel of Hatred (patch 2.0, Oct 2024) Paragon is shared by all your characters on a realm, with up to 300 points from leveling, five boards equipped and Glyphs leveled to 100 in the Pit.
Paragon is Diablo 4's progression after the level cap: you earn Paragon points and spend them on boards of stat nodes with sockets for Glyphs, and since Vessel of Hatred (patch 2.0, Oct 2024) every Paragon level is shared by all your characters on the same realm, up to 300 points from leveling, with at most five boards equipped. That sharing is the model Blizzard followed in Season 15: in this clip from the BlizzCon 2026 "What's Next" panel, its designers announce that War Plans progress becomes realm-based so you do not start over on a new character, which Blizzard's recap says works "similar to how Paragon points work". On a Seasonal Realm Paragon starts again from zero each season; on the Eternal Realm it keeps growing.

How the boards work
At launch Paragon unlocked at level 50: each level of experience after that gave Paragon points to "unlock new tiles, Sockets, and even additional Paragon Boards" (Blizzard, Sep 19, 2022). A board is a grid of nodes, from plain stat nodes (Strength, Intelligence, Willpower, Dexterity) to rare and magic nodes and one Legendary node with a build-defining effect, and a Glyph socket that powers up the nodes around it. You enter a new board through the gate at the edge of the last one, and each class has its own set of boards.
Patch 2.0, with Vessel of Hatred in October 2024, rebuilt the system. Character levels and Paragon split, levels 1 to 60 being character levels and Paragon starting at 60; Paragon points became "tied to Realm versus Character Level", so "all Paragon Levels earned will be shared across all your characters on the same Realm"; a character above level 50 was set back to 50 and its Paragon converted, so a level 100 character became level 50 with 200 realm-wide Paragon levels; points from leveling went from 200 to 300; every class got one new board; and only five boards can be equipped, starting board included, because Blizzard wanted "the focus to be more on which board and glyphs you want" (Blizzard, Aug 29, 2024). Reaching Paragon 300 earns a mount trophy.
The level cap rose to 70 with Lord of Hatred on Apr 27, 2026 (Blizzard, Apr 23, 2026). Blizzard's pages read here do not say whether Paragon now begins at 60 or at 70, or whether the 300-point leveling cap changed, so this page does not state either; the Leveling Guide covers the climb to 70.
Glyphs
Glyphs are socketed into a board and boost the nodes within their radius. Since patch 2.0 they level in the Pit instead of in Nightmare Dungeons, and no longer by experience: completing the Artificer's Mastery in a Pit run gives three attempts to raise a Glyph's rank, plus a bonus attempt for not dying. The chance depends on how far the Pit tier is above the Glyph's rank: a tier 10 higher guarantees a rank, and every 20 levels of difference adds a bonus rank per attempt, so three deathless runs at Pit tier 30 take a Glyph from rank 1 to 19 (Blizzard, Aug 29, 2024). The maximum Glyph level went from 21 to 100, and at level 45 a Rare Glyph can be upgraded with Gem Fragments to a Legendary Glyph, whose radius grows from 4 to 5 and which gains an extra affix. Seasons sometimes add a blessing for it, such as the Urn of Glyphs in Season of Hell's Legacy, "a chance to earn an extra upgrade when improving glyphs".
Season Rank Paragon
Since Season 11, Season Rank has replaced the Season Journey, and it pays account-wide Paragon points on top of what you level: Blizzard's trailer for that season shows the cards "Conquer Capstone Dungeons to ascend Seasonal Ranks" in this clip, each rank being gated by a Capstone Dungeon. Season of Reckoning's ranks gave up to 12 Skill Points and 42 Paragon points, and Season of Hell's Legacy's nine ranks give up to 14 Skill Points and 42 Paragon points (Blizzard, Sep 12, 2026).
New boards and Glyphs
Boards and Glyphs keep changing with patches. Lord of Hatred brought the Paladin and Warlock with boards of their own, and patch 3.2.1 (Sep 15, 2026) gave the Spiritborn a new board, Swarm of Storms, and the Warlock a new Glyph, Superiority, while tuning Glyphs for every class (Blizzard, Sep 12, 2026). Which board order suits which build is a question for Builds and each class page under Classes.
Paragon across the community
Paragon is also counted for everyone at once. For Lord of Hatred's launch Blizzard set the "Hatred's Downfall" community challenge: if players together earned 266,600,000 Paragon points, every player would receive the Crown of Hatred helm.
