Battle Pass and Shop
Diablo 4's Battle Pass is a set of Reliquaries: one free each season, plus premium ones sold for Platinum, 1,000 Platinum for the Premium bundle or 2,800 for the Deluxe bundle in Season of Hell's Legacy. The in-game shop sells cosmetics for Platinum, Blizzard's real-money currency (1,000 Platinum costs $9.99), and Blizzard sells no item power.
Diablo 4's Battle Pass is a set of Reliquaries, catalogs of cosmetic rewards you unlock with Favor earned by playing: each season has one free Reliquary and premium ones bought with Platinum, and in Season of Hell's Legacy the Premium bundle costs 1,000 Platinum and the Deluxe bundle 2,800 Platinum. Platinum is bought with real money, $9.99 for 1,000 at launch, and it is also spent in the in-game shop, which sells only cosmetics: armor looks, mounts, pets and the like. Blizzard said before launch that it would make money from cosmetics and a season pass, not from item power (Polygon, Dec 9, 2022). The Season of Death Awakening trailer shows the system at work: a Season Rank reward pet, then "with the new Reliquary" armor sets and a mount, and a pet and wings to "instantly unlock with Deluxe Battle Pass". The base game and expansions are sold separately (Price and Editions).

The Battle Pass at launch (Seasons 1 to 7)
The first Battle Pass came with Season of the Malignant on Jul 20, 2023. It had 90 tiers: 27 free and 63 premium. The Premium pass cost 1,000 Platinum ($9.99) and the Accelerated pass 2,800 Platinum ($24.99), with 20 tier skips; single tier skips cost 200 Platinum each. Premium tiers held only cosmetics and Platinum. The free tiers also gave Smoldering Ashes, spent on Season Blessings that raised the earn rate of experience, gold or Murmuring Obols, passive buffs as PC Gamer described them (PC Gamer, Jun 2, 2023). From Season 3 the split became 28 free and 62 premium tiers. The Digital Deluxe edition of the game included a Premium Battle Pass unlock and the Ultimate edition an Accelerated one (Blizzard, Dec 9, 2022).
Reliquaries (Season 8 onward)
Season 8: Belial's Return replaced the tiered pass on Apr 29, 2025 with Reliquaries, "a catalog of rewards" you claim in any order you like. Blizzard's rules (Blizzard, Apr 21, 2025):
- Four Battle Pass Reliquaries a season. One is free and even contains some Platinum. Three are premium (in Season 8: Weapons, Beasts and Armor) at 200, 500 and 800 Platinum singly or 1,000 together as the Premium Battle Pass Bundle, which is no longer offered once you buy one singly.
- Deluxe bundle. For 2,800 Platinum, the Deluxe Battle Pass Bundle opens the premium Reliquaries and instantly grants extra cosmetics, usually an armor set, a pet and wings.
- Favor Tokens. Every item costs Favor, earned only by slaying monsters and completing quests. You can hold 99 Favor Tokens and carry up to 99 into future seasons.
- Bonus rewards. Finishing a Reliquary unlocks its bonus item for free; finishing all four usually completes a season-only armor set.
- Event Reliquaries. Collaborations and milestone events get their own, shorter-lived Reliquaries.
When Reliquaries arrived, unspent Premium Battle Pass tokens became Reliquary premium tokens and Accelerated upgrade tokens became 1,800 Platinum.
Blizzard's season trailers now end on the Reliquary. Season of Divine Intervention's trailer reads "Earn rewards in the new Reliquary" over an armor set glowing with embers, then shows a winged look with the line "Instantly unlock with Deluxe Battle Pass". In Season of Reckoning, the free Reliquary held weapon looks, Platinum, the Skovosi Horse and a town portal, and buying the premium ones as a bundle saved 500 Platinum over buying them singly.
The current pass: Season of Hell's Legacy
The Season of Hell's Legacy Battle Pass Reliquary, "available to all", includes the Eidolon Mount, Eidolon's Barding and the Ancient Town Portal, and for the first time the Armor Reliquary has a unique set for each class (Blizzard, Sep 12, 2026). The Premium bundle costs 1,000 Platinum, against 1,500 for every premium Reliquary bought singly (Blizzard, read Oct 20, 2026). The Deluxe bundle costs 2,800 Platinum and adds the Archangel of Justice armor set, the Lordling of Terror pet and Wings of Justice. Favor carries over and caps at 99. Lord of Hatred's Deluxe edition includes a Premium Battle Pass token and its Ultimate edition 3,000 Platinum (Season of Hell's Legacy).
Do Reliquaries expire?
Yes. Battle Pass Reliquaries last for their season, and "any unclaimed Reliquary rewards will disappear once the Reliquary they're from expires" (Blizzard, Apr 21, 2025). They can be used on the Eternal Realm too, so Eternal players should watch the countdown on each Reliquary. Cosmetics you have already claimed stay on your account, and unspent Favor up to 99 carries into the next season.

The in-game store, run by the merchant Tejal ("Tejal's Shop"), sells armor and weapon looks for each class, mounts, mount armor, pets, town portals and bundles, some for a limited time. Prices vary by item; the Season 8 Fetters of the Nether Lion mount bundle, for example, cost 2,800 Platinum. The shop also gives things away: during the third anniversary event in June 2026 it handed out a free weapon cosmetic each day from Jun 2 to Jun 6 (Blizzard, May 26, 2026). Some bundles are sold on the Battle.net store instead, such as the Diablo IV BlizzCon Bundle at $29.99 with the Streamsnout pet and the Indigo cat mount, on sale until Sep 28, 2026.
Collaborations
Crossovers with other games and series are sold in the shop, often beside a free event Reliquary. The Season of Death Awakening trailer shows the Overwatch one: an "Overwatch x Diablo IV" title, a "Free Overwatch Reliquary" whose rewards end in a ghostly fox, and a lineup of characters in Overwatch looks labeled "Limited-time shop items". Blizzard's post confirms the free Reliquary, earned with a currency called Eye of the Overwatch and ending in Kiriko's Fox Spirit, with shop skins from Jun 30, 2026 (Blizzard, Jun 23, 2026). The others so far:
- World of Warcraft: cosmetics in both games, Dec 17, 2024 to Jan 7, 2025.
- Berserk: from May 6, 2025, shop armor and Behelit drops for a Berserk Reliquary.
- StarCraft: shop looks of Jim Raynor, Kerrigan and Tychus Findlay and a Zerg mount from Sep 26, 2025.
- DOOM: The Dark Ages: cosmetics during Season of Slaughter from Mar 12, 2026.
- The Witcher 3: a Geralt-themed skin for buying The Witcher 3's Songs of the Past expansion on Battle.net (Blizzard, Sep 12, 2026).
Criticism of prices
The launch shop drew complaints: MP1st reported a Necromancer armor set at about $28 and a horse at about $15 (Jun 2, 2023).
Free cosmetics without paying
Each season's free Reliquary, Season Rank rewards (in Season 15 the Dark Wanderbear pet and the Banner of the Three mount trophy), Twitch Drops and in-game events give cosmetics without Platinum. Xbox Game Pass members who link Battle.net can claim over 50 cosmetics across all classes in Season of Hell's Legacy. How seasons work is on Seasons.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the Diablo 4 Battle Pass? In Season of Hell's Legacy the Diablo 4 Premium Battle Pass bundle costs 1,000 Platinum (about $9.99) and the Deluxe bundle 2,800 Platinum (about $24.99); one Battle Pass Reliquary is free.
Is Diablo 4 pay to win? No. The Diablo 4 shop and Battle Pass sell cosmetics and Platinum, not gear or item power, as Blizzard promised before launch; early Battle Passes did include Smoldering Ashes for small earn-rate boosts on their free tiers.
What is Platinum in Diablo 4? Platinum is Diablo 4's real-money currency, used for premium Reliquaries and shop cosmetics; at launch 1,000 Platinum cost $9.99, and packs ran from 200 for $1.99 to 11,500 for $99.99.
Do Diablo 4 Reliquaries expire? Yes. A Diablo 4 Battle Pass Reliquary lasts for its season, and unclaimed rewards disappear when it expires, though up to 99 unspent Favor Tokens carry into future seasons.
What is Favor in Diablo 4? Favor Tokens are the currency that unlocks items in Diablo 4's Reliquaries; you earn them by slaying monsters and completing quests, can hold up to 99, and can save up to 99 for later seasons.
Is the Diablo 4 Battle Pass worth it? It holds only cosmetics in Diablo 4, so it is worth it only if you want the looks; the free Reliquary and Season Rank rewards come at no cost.
