Diablo 4 costs $49.99 for the Standard Edition, or $69.99 as the Age of Hatred Collection, which adds both expansions; the newest expansion, Lord of Hatred, costs $39.99, $59.99 or $89.99 for its Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate Editions, and every edition includes the first expansion, Vessel of Hatred. Those are the US prices on Steam and the PlayStation Store, read Oct 20, 2026. Blizzard's Lord of Hatred launch trailer ends on two cards: "The Reckoning arrives April 28, 2026" with a call to pre-purchase, then a card of in-game rewards that unlock with the Ultimate Edition. Diablo 4 is not free to play: you buy the base game once per platform, and Blizzard also sells a seasonal Battle Pass and cosmetics. What the game is about is on Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 editions and prices today

The base game and the Collection are the two ways to buy Diablo 4 itself. On Steam they are "Diablo IV - Standard Edition" and "Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection"; on PlayStation the Collection is called the "D4 + Vessel of Hatred + Lord of Hatred Bundle", at the same price (PlayStation). On Xbox the Collection has its own store page, and on Switch 2 it is the only version sold.

Price (US) What you get
Standard Edition $49.99 The base game: the campaign, five classes, every season, the free reworked skill trees
Age of Hatred Collection $69.99 The base game, Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred Standard Edition (Spiritborn, Paladin, Warlock)

The Collection costs $20 more than the base game alone, and $9.99 less than buying the Standard Edition and Lord of Hatred Standard separately ($49.99 plus $39.99).

Lord of Hatred editions

Lord of Hatred is an add-on, so it needs the base game. Every edition includes Vessel of Hatred ("If you already have access to Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, the expansion will not be re-granted"), the Paladin and the Warlock, 2 extra character slots, 1 extra stash tab and 3 World of Warcraft decor items (Steam). The decor items need a World of Warcraft subscription or game time, and in some regions World of Warcraft: Midnight (Blizzard).

Price (US) Adds
Standard $39.99 Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred, Paladin and Warlock, 2 character slots, 1 stash tab, 3 WoW decor items
Deluxe $59.99 Standard, plus the High Heavensguard Paladin and Infernal Apostle Warlock cosmetic bundles, the Skartaran Basilisk Mount and Armor Bundle, Skorch the Mini Chimera pet and a Premium Battle Pass token
Ultimate $89.99 Deluxe, plus the Steed of the Shining Realm mount, the Umbral Knights Cross-Class Armor Bundle (6 class armors), two back trophies (Tymn, Echo of the Spire; Avel'hud, Nucleus of Perdition), two Town Portal skins and 3,000 Platinum

Steam sells upgrades between them: Standard to Deluxe $19.99, Deluxe to Ultimate $29.99, Standard to Ultimate $49.99. The extra items are cosmetic; the Deluxe pet, Skorch, also gathers gold and materials. Lord of Hatred is bought once per platform, but progress is shared across platforms through Battle.net (Blizzard).

What you get without paying for an expansion

A lot of the Lord of Hatred update is free. At the Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight, Blizzard said the reworked skill trees come to every class and "will be available to all players, regardless of Lord of Hatred ownership", with more than 40 reworked choices and over 80 new options per class, while expansion owners get "over 20 additional transformative skill choices". Seasons, the loot filter and the level cap of 70 are also for everyone. What the expansion keeps for owners includes the Skovos campaign and region, the Paladin and Warlock and the expansion-only skill variants; Vessel of Hatred adds the Spiritborn, Nahantu and Mercenaries.

Vessel of Hatred's price

Vessel of Hatred launched in Oct 2024 at $39.99 Standard, $59.99 Deluxe and $89.99 Ultimate, plus a $69.99 Expansion Bundle with the base game. It is no longer sold on its own in the US stores read on Oct 20, 2026: it comes with every Lord of Hatred edition. Watch for one trap: Steam's Vessel of Hatred page (app 3043530) shows $69.99, because it now sells the Age of Hatred Collection there, not Vessel of Hatred alone.

Launch prices in 2023

Diablo 4 launched at $69.99 for the Standard Edition, $89.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, as the press reported when pre-purchase opened in Dec 2022 (GINX TV); Blizzard's own post did not print prices. Deluxe and Ultimate gave up to four days of early access, a Battle Pass unlock and cosmetics (Blizzard). Blizzard has not said when the base price dropped to $49.99. Sales go lower: on Black Friday 2025 the Standard Edition was 55% off at $22.49.

Battle Pass, Platinum and the shop

Seasons are free, but each has a paid Battle Pass. Since Season 8 it is a set of Reliquaries whose rewards you unlock in any order; the Season of Death Awakening trailer shows "the new Reliquary" and cosmetics that "instantly unlock with Deluxe Battle Pass". In Season of Hell's Legacy the Premium bundle costs 1,000 Platinum (buying every Reliquary separately would be 1,500) and the Deluxe pass 2,800 Platinum, adding the Archangel of Justice armor, the Lordling of Terror pet and Wings of Justice (Blizzard). Platinum, the real-money currency, also buys cosmetics in the shop. At launch Blizzard's press kit showed packs from 200 Platinum for $1.99 to 11,500 for $99.99, and 1,000 Platinum cost $9.99. Premium Battle Pass tiers hold only cosmetics and Platinum (PC Gamer). Details are on Battle Pass and Shop.

Is Diablo 4 free?

No. Diablo 4 has no free-to-play version. Free access has come only through time-limited trials (for example the Warlock trial from Jun 30 to Jul 7, 2026, up to level 30, which the same trailer announces) and through Xbox Game Pass, which includes the base game but not the expansions (Game Pass). Blizzard said progress from the Warlock trial carries over if you buy Lord of Hatred.

Nintendo Switch 2

On Switch 2, Diablo 4 is sold only as the Age of Hatred Collection, with both expansions, since Sep 15, 2026. Blizzard's announcement gave no price; Digital Citizen reported it at $69.99, the same as on the other stores. Check the Nintendo eShop for the current price. How it runs is on Platforms and Crossplay.

The Amazon Class Pack

The next paid content is a class, not an expansion. At the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony Blizzard announced that "The Amazon Class Pack is going to arrive the first half of 2027". It has no price yet: "Class Pack details and purchase details will be available next year closer to release" (Blizzard). Blizzard says no more expansions are currently planned (Brent Gibson, Sep 2026). See Amazon.
