Mythic Uniques
Mythic Uniques are Diablo 4's rarest items. Since Season 14 (Jun 30, 2026) Mythic is an item quality, so any Unique can drop as a Mythic or be made into one (always Ancestral, Unique power +30%), while the classic set, the Iconic Mythics such as Harlequin Crest and The Grandfather, stays Mythic-only.
Mythic Uniques are Diablo 4's rarest and strongest items: since Season of Death Awakening (Season 14, Jun 30, 2026) "Mythic is now a modifiable Item Quality", so any Unique can drop as a Mythic or be converted into one, always Ancestral, with its Unique power raised by 30% and its other affixes at their maximum, while the classic set, now called Iconic Mythics (Harlequin Crest, The Grandfather, Melted Heart of Selig and the rest), stays Mythic-only. Blizzard's trailer for that season shows the change in this clip: the cards "Reworked Mythic Uniques" and "Any Unique can become a Mythic" over combat, then "Craft powerful Mythic Uniques with new Horadric Cube recipes" over a Horadric Cube screen. You can wear as many Mythics as you find, but only one made with the Horadric Cube's direct upgrade recipe.

From Uber Uniques to Mythic quality
At launch the rarest items were "Uber Uniques", which by Season 4 began to drop only from level 55 monsters at the top item power (Blizzard, Apr 30, 2024). Season 5 (Aug 6, 2024) renamed them: "Uber Uniques will be now known as Mythic Uniques", dropping "with a distinct beam of light" (Blizzard, Jul 30, 2024). Vessel of Hatred (Oct 2024) added three more (Heir of Perdition, Shroud of False Death and Shattered Vow) and let you craft a Mythic at the Jeweler from a Resplendent Spark and Runes (Blizzard, Aug 29, 2024).
"Mythic Uniques 3.0" in Season 14 changed what a Mythic is. Instead of a fixed list of rare items, "every Unique can be Mythic": a Unique can drop as one, and on both realms you have "a very rare chance to find a Mythic Unique whenever an Ancestral Unique would drop" (Blizzard, Jun 23, 2026). The old Mythics became Iconic Mythics, which "have become 'must-have' in many endgame builds"; from Season 14 they could no longer be made at the Jeweler, only at random from the Blacksmith. Every Unique, Mythic and Iconic Mythic now carries two guaranteed affixes.
How to get a Mythic now
Season of Hell's Legacy (Season 15, Sep 15, 2026) kept the three crafting routes but made them "far more deterministic" (Blizzard, Sep 12, 2026). Blizzard's designers explain the biggest change in this clip: instead of rerolling an item to make it Mythic, the Horadric Cube now upgrades it directly, so you can perfect a Unique first and make it Mythic as the last step.
- Horadric Cube, "Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic": the most expensive route, but "a total 1:1 transfer": a Tibault's Will with good affixes, Tempering and Masterworking comes out as a Mythic Tibault's Will with all of them kept. It does not work on an Unmodifiable item, and the result carries a "Crafted" tag; you can equip only one Crafted item.
- Jeweler, Rune Crafting: Resplendent Sparks and Runes. In Season 14 the recipe took an 850+ Unique for the slot plus 18 specific Runes and 3 Sparks, at level 70 in Torment, and gave a random class-usable Mythic for the same slot (Blizzard, Jun 23, 2026). No Crafted tag.
- Blacksmith, Mythic caches: two caches at the same cost, one for any Mythic your class can use and one for Iconic Mythics only. No Crafted tag.
- Drops: since patch 3.2.1 (Sep 15, 2026), Lair Bosses drop Mythics from their own Unique pools, Initiate bosses as often as Greater ones, and "the chance for Mythic Uniques to drop from random sources" rose; Echo of Mephisto guarantees one. Higher Torment levels mean more Ancestral Uniques, and so more chances. Which boss drops what is on Bosses.
- Season Rank: Season 15's ranks pay "up to 10 Resplendent Sparks (plus those in Mythic Caches)" and 5 Mythic Unique Caches.
The Iconic Mythics nearly changed too. On the 3.2.0 test realm Blizzard added Unique versions of them; players said it "cheapened the value of Iconic Mythics", and the team explains in this clip why it dropped the idea and brought back the Blacksmith cache that rolls only Iconic Mythics.
Charms can be Mythic as well. Since Season 15, whenever a Unique Charm drops it has "a very small chance" to be a Mythic Charm, as the designers say here, so wherever you collect many Charms you can find one. Charms go in the Talisman, described on Crafting.
Resplendent Sparks
A Resplendent Spark is the crafting material for Mythics at the Jeweler. It has come from your first kill of a Tormented boss, from Echo of Lilith, from Season Rank (up to 14 in Season of Reckoning, up to 10 in Season 15) and from reputation caches such as Season 8's (Blizzard, Apr 23, 2026).
Iconic Mythics
Blizzard has not published a list of which items count as Iconic Mythics; its Season 14 post names Melted Heart of Selig and Ring of Starless Skies as examples. The Mythics Blizzard named before Season 14, all still in the 3.1 patch notes, are Harlequin Crest, Doombringer, The Grandfather, Andariel's Visage, Ring of Starless Skies, Melted Heart of Selig, Ahavarion (Spear of Lycander), Tyrael's Might, Shroud of False Death, Nesekem the Herald, Shattered Vow and Heir of Perdition (Blizzard, 3.1 patch notes). El'Druin, Sword of Justice, joined the Blacksmith's Mythic Unique Cache in patch 3.1.1 (Jul 14, 2026). Patch 3.1.1 raised "the chance of naturally dropped Mythics being an Iconic Mythic". Harlequin Crest is the helm Diablo 2 players called the "Shako". Which Mythic suits which build belongs to Builds.
Legacy Uniques and new Uniques
Season of Hell's Legacy brought nine Uniques from the older games, and Blizzard's designers say in this clip that they keep the affixes and feel of the originals, come with their own looks, and are "permanent", on both realms in every later season. They are Leoric's Crown, Nemesis Bracers, Stone of Jordan and Sirloin of the Bovine for all classes, and Arioc's Needle, Henri's Perquisition, In-Geom, The Furnace and Messerschmidt's Reaver for several classes; Blizzard's season post marks six of them (Nemesis Bracers, Stone of Jordan, Arioc's Needle, Henri's Perquisition, In-Geom and The Furnace) as Unique Charms too (Blizzard, Sep 12, 2026). Like every Unique, each can become a Mythic.
Blizzard announced them at the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony in this clip as legendary gear inspired by every era of Diablo, with the Stone of Jordan as the headline; its season post calls the Stone "a ring so coveted it once served as currency". Most seasons add Uniques: Season 8 added six (among them Gathlen's Birthright and Hail of Verglas), and the Butcher's five arrived with Season 12. Since patch 3.2.1, all Uniques can drop from level 1 on any difficulty.
Frequently asked questions
How do you get Mythic Uniques in Diablo 4? In Diablo 4 you get Mythic Uniques from drops (Lair Bosses above all, and Echo of Mephisto guarantees one), by upgrading a Unique in the Horadric Cube, by Rune Crafting at the Jeweler with Resplendent Sparks, from the Blacksmith's Mythic caches, and from Season Rank caches.
What is a Resplendent Spark in Diablo 4? A Resplendent Spark is the rare material Diablo 4's Jeweler uses, with Runes, to craft a Mythic Unique; Sparks come from Season Rank, first Tormented boss kills, Echo of Lilith and reputation caches.
Can I equip two Mythics in Diablo 4? Yes: Diablo 4 lets you equip as many dropped Mythic Uniques as you like, plus those from the Jeweler and Blacksmith, but only one item with the "Crafted" tag from the Horadric Cube's direct upgrade.
Is the Shako still in Diablo 4? Yes: Harlequin Crest, the helm players call the Shako, is still in Diablo 4 as an Iconic Mythic, listed in Blizzard's 3.1 patch notes in June 2026.
What are Iconic Mythics in Diablo 4? Iconic Mythics are Diablo 4's original set of Mythic Uniques, such as Harlequin Crest, The Grandfather and Melted Heart of Selig, which since Season 14 exist only at Mythic quality and come from drops or the Blacksmith's Iconic cache.
What are the legacy Uniques in Diablo 4? The legacy Uniques are nine items from earlier Diablo games added to Diablo 4 for good on Sep 15, 2026: Leoric's Crown, Nemesis Bracers, Stone of Jordan, Sirloin of the Bovine, Arioc's Needle, Henri's Perquisition, In-Geom, The Furnace and Messerschmidt's Reaver.
When did Uber Uniques become Mythic Uniques? Diablo 4 renamed Uber Uniques to Mythic Uniques in Season 5 (Aug 6, 2024), and in Season 14 (Jun 30, 2026) Mythic became a quality any Unique can have.
