Season 16

Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 will have a Season 16, but as of Oct 20, 2026 it has not announced its name, start date, theme or public test realm, and Season of Hell's Legacy (Season 15) has no announced end date.

Diablo 4 will have a Season 16, but Blizzard has not announced its name, start date, theme or public test realm (PTR) as of Oct 20, 2026, and the current season, Season of Hell's Legacy, has no announced end date. The confirmation came at the "Diablo IV: What's Next" panel at BlizzCon 2026 on Sep 13: after a remark that a feature had first been planned for Season 16, the host asked about the future beyond the current season, and the developers offered "a sneak peek" at the team's priorities rather than details, starting with build novelty through new seasonal itemization such as equipment modifiers and Horadric Cube recipes (Blizzard Watch, Sep 14, 2026). Until Blizzard posts more, any Season 16 date you see is a guess. The current season is covered on Season of Hell's Legacy and every past one on Seasons.

What Blizzard has said

Blizzard named three priorities for the seasons after Season 15. The first is build novelty, through seasonal itemization. The second is the endgame: the panel says players responded well to War Plans, and the team sees chances to improve them further with "playlist customization", more seasonal variety and more War Plans endgame. Blizzard's written recap says the same: future seasons will bring "further refinements and additions to War Plans, such as playlist customization and Seasonal variety, as well as itemization and customization expansion" (Blizzard, Sep 13, 2026).

The third is a "season arc", a story told across seasons. Season of Death Awakening uncovered a death cult opening ruptures to Pandemonium, and in Season of Hell's Legacy the dead start coming back to life. In the seasons coming "over the next year, leading up to the release of the Amazon", the panel says, players will confront the death cult and "ultimately confront the aspect of death"; the developers confirm that the Season 14 boss's warning "he is coming" refers to this new Aspect of Death. Blizzard's recap puts it as carrying on "the story of the dead returning to life and the dire purposes of the Cult of the Dead" (Blizzard, Sep 13, 2026).

One feature already arrived early. Shared War Plans progress across characters was originally planned for Season 16, the developers say, but the team moved it up to Season 15, so it is already live (Blizzard, Sep 12, 2026).

The Amazon and the road to Diablo 5

The next dated content is not a season but a class. At the BlizzCon opening ceremony on Sep 12, 2026, Blizzard revealed the Amazon, who wields the bow and brings a new weapon to Diablo 4, the javelin, in a Class Pack due in the first half of 2027. Blizzard says "Class Pack details and purchase details will be available next year closer to release" (Blizzard, Sep 13, 2026). The seasonal arc leads up to her release, so Season 16 sits between Season of Hell's Legacy and the Amazon. Brent Gibson told PC Gamer that no more expansions are currently planned and that the team is "focused on [Diablo 4] seasons and getting to Diablo 5" (PC Gamer, Sep 12, 2026). Diablo 5 is due in Spring 2029.

What past seasons suggest (not Blizzard's dates)

Blizzard has not dated Season 16, but its own calendar shows a pattern (Seasons):

  • Length. Seasons have usually lasted about three months; Season 15 began on Sep 15, 2026. The shortest, Season of Slaughter, ran about seven weeks, and Season of the Construct was extended to nearly four.
  • PTR first. Most seasons had a PC-only public test realm of about a week some weeks before launch. Season 14's ran Jun 2 to Jun 9, 2026, four weeks before its Jun 30 start; Season 15's ran Aug 4 to Aug 11, 2026, five weeks before Sep 15. A PTR announcement has always been the first firm sign of a new season.
  • Start time. Most seasons began at 10 a.m. Pacific; Season 15 began at 9:30 a.m. PT.
  • Patch number. Seasons 14 and 15 launched with patches 3.1.0 and 3.2.1, so fan sites expect "3.3", but Blizzard has not named it.

Tracker and guide sites have guessed PTR dates from Oct 20 to Nov 3, 2026 and a Season 15 end in early December. None of these come from Blizzard, and this page will list the real dates once Blizzard posts them on its news feed or season page. Patches as they come are on Patch Notes.
