Regions

Diablo 4's Sanctuary has seven regions in one open world: Fractured Peaks, Scosglen, Dry Steppes, Kehjistan and Hawezar in the base game, Nahantu from Vessel of Hatred and Skovos from Lord of Hatred. Skovos's capital, Temis, is the endgame hub.

Diablo 4's Sanctuary has seven regions, joined in one open world you cross on foot or on a mount: Fractured Peaks, Scosglen, Dry Steppes, Kehjistan and Hawezar in the base game (2023), Nahantu from Vessel of Hatred (2024) and Skovos from Lord of Hatred (2026). The newest, Skovos, gets its own title card in Lord of Hatred's launch trailer, "New region: Skovos", over an overhead view of a sunlit stone town. Each region has its own towns, monsters, dungeons and Strongholds, and the base game alone launched with "almost 150" dungeons (Blizzard, Jun 12, 2022). The base game's regions are open to everyone; Nahantu and Skovos need their expansions. The story that crosses them is on Story.

Fractured Peaks

Fractured Peaks is the frozen mountain region where the base game begins, loosely based on the Carpathian Mountains, Game Informer was told on its guided tour of the five regions (Game Informer, Mar 1, 2023). It is home to the Cathedral of Light, and its enemies include the Khazra, goatmen who wield ice magic; the campaign visits the Alabaster Monastery. Its main town is Kyovashad, with waypoints at Menestad, Nevesk, Yelesna, Margrave and the Bear Tribe Refuge, and the Stronghold of Nostrava (Mein-MMO, Jun 21, 2023). Kyovashad still starts season questlines: Season 14's "A Gospel of Despair" began there (Blizzard).

Scosglen

Scosglen is the green coastal highland region inspired by the Scottish highlands: home of the Druids and their college, the Knights Penitent, werewolves and the Drowned, with the Sea Hag among its threats (Game Informer). Its towns include Cerrigar, Braestaig, Marowen and Tirmair (Mein-MMO). Cerrigar matters long after the campaign: its Obelisk opens the Pit of the Artificers, a timed dungeon of 200 tiers added in Season 4 (The Pit), and the Artificer's Tower (Blizzard, Jan 9, 2026).

Dry Steppes

The Dry Steppes are grassland, cliffs, lava rivers and geothermal pools, inspired by Yellowstone; Barbarians settled here after Mount Arreat fell, and cannibal hordes roam it (Game Informer). Its main town is Ked Bardu, with Jirandai, Alzuuda and the Ruins of Qara-Yisu (Mein-MMO). Ked Bardu is where the Warlock's class quest, "Disciple of the Forbidden", starts at level 15 (Blizzard, Mar 5, 2026).

Kehjistan

Kehjistan is desert, inspired by the Middle East and the Mojave, where the campaign revisits Caldeum, its capital, and the Triune cultists gather (Game Informer). Its towns include Gea Kul, Tarsarak and Denshar, and the Iron Wolves keep an encampment there (Mein-MMO). The Spiritborn's class quest, "Sacred Hunt", starts with Tarka in Gea Kul at level 15 (Blizzard, Jul 18, 2024).

Hawezar

Hawezar is the poison swamp, inspired by Florida's marshes and European swamps, full of the Nangari, snake-like monsters with human limbs and several heads; Zakarum crusaders settled in its town of Zarbinzet (Game Informer). The Tree of Whispers, which pays Grim Favors for the Whispers of the Dead, stands in Hawezar (Mein-MMO). Season 14's lair boss, the Corrupted Reaper, waited at the Pandemonium Threshold near Zarbinzet (Blizzard, Jun 23, 2026).

Nahantu (Vessel of Hatred)

Nahantu is Vessel of Hatred's region: Blizzard describes "new Towns and bygone civilizations shrouded in the vast jungle", new dungeons and Strongholds, and enemies "from ferocious demons to warring Tribes" in "the hellish overgrowth of Kurast or the barren desert of Teganze" (Blizzard). Its monsters include the Lacuni, the Skittering Earth, the Hollows and the Dregs. Kurast holds the temple city of Travincal, where Mephisto took the body of the prophet Akarat, and beneath it the Kurast Undercity, a time-attack dungeon still used by War Plans. Nahantu is the home of the Spiritborn.

Skovos (Lord of Hatred)

Skovos is Lord of Hatred's region, a group of islands off the mainland that Blizzard calls "visually inspired by ancient Mediterranean landscapes": rugged coastlines, mountainous highlands, ancient temples and "more monster variety than ever". At the Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight, Blizzard calls it "the birthplace of humanity, where Lilith and Inarius began it all". Its store page adds that it is "now ruled by The Oracle and Amazon Queen", from "the volcanic west to the forests of the east and the sunken lands between", with crumbling temples and waterlogged shores (Blizzard).

Blizzard's press images name places across it: Temis, Philios, Lycander, Skartara, Saltwind and Atanos. PC Gamer describes Lycander as a forest of never-ending autumn whose trees are turning petrified, writes that Skovos was originally planned as a location in Diablo 3, and says it is roughly the same size as Nahantu but changes the world more because it is so isolated and different from the mainland (PC Gamer, Apr 21, 2026). Lord of Hatred's fishing starts with a fisherman south of Philios.

Skovos is also the home of the Amazon, the class coming in the first half of 2027. At BlizzCon 2026's What's Next panel, the team explains why: "We've just visited" Skovos in Lord of Hatred, "the home of the Amazon", where players fight alongside them "for the very first time" and wondered why they could not play one.

Temis, the endgame city

Temis, Skovos's capital, is where the endgame now lives. Blizzard built it "to be the ideal endgame city, crafted to streamline your access to everything you want once the campaign is concluded", the developers say in the footage GameSpot published, before introducing War Plans, a playlist of up to five activities. Its Command Table builds War Plans, and its Sightless Eye takes the Trace of Echoes that opens Echoing Hatred; the Horadric Cube sits in Temis too. The Pit and the Artificer's Tower still start at the Obelisk in Cerrigar. A tour of every activity is on Endgame.

Old places, back in Season 15

Season of Hell's Legacy, the 15th season, takes players briefly to places from older Diablo games. At the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony Blizzard says Deckard Cain "leads you into waking nightmares" at "places every Diablo player remembers": Tristram Cathedral, the Worldstone Chamber and the Durance of Hate, with Baal, Mephisto and Diablo waiting inside. Blizzard places the echoes of Diablo beneath Tristram Cathedral, Baal at the Arreat Summit and Mephisto in the Durance of Hate (Blizzard, Sep 12, 2026). These are seasonal visits, not new regions (Season of Hell's Legacy).

Getting around

The regions form one open world. Each has Waypoints for fast travel (Mein-MMO lists them region by region), and you can ride a mount between them; seasonal characters may skip the campaign and start with their mount, the Altars of Lilith unlocked and the map revealed (Blizzard, Jul 2023). Lord of Hatred added a Map Overlay and a Pathfinder. Region-wide events such as Helltide and world bosses (World Bosses) move between regions.
